August was filled with acts of generosity, volunteerism, sponsored events, and giving. From helping our local children’s hospital purchase specialized equipment to funding one of our area’s senior centers to ensure a vibrant quality of life, Gulf Winds is a positive force in the region. 

Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation, $20,000 

On Friday, August 16, we proudly sponsored Cat Country’s 2024 Radiothon in partnership with the Ascension Sacred Heart Foundation. We donated $20,000 to the event, supporting the Studer Family Children’s Hospital, the only Children’s Miracle Network affiliate serving the Pensacola region.  

Since 2013, Gulf Winds has donated more than $184,000 to Sacred Heart’s Foundation and the children’s hospital, including this year’s gift of $20,000. This year’s donation will support the purchase of Angel Eye Cameras for the hospital’s 62-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. These cameras let families watch over their babies 24/7 via a secure account, giving them peace of mind as they never have to miss a memory.  

United Fund of Atmore and Brewton, $6,000 

On Friday, August 9 and August 13, Gulf Winds donated to United Fund Atmore in Atmore, Alabama and United Fund Brewton in Brewton, Alabama. The Gulf Winds collectively donated $6,000 to support these communities in the pursuit of caring for those in need. 

The United Fund of Atmore and the United Fund of Brewton are leading organizations of their communities, funding local agencies’ projects that enhance the standards of social and community services. Through support from donors like Gulf Winds, United Fund affiliates can have the means to complete essential projects that better the lives of those living in these small communities. 

Escambia County Area on Aging, $5,000 

On Tuesday, August 27, $5,000 was gifted to support their ongoing mission to provide local seniors with opportunities to socialize, access nutritious meals, and receive vital supportive services. 

The Agency on Aging (AOA) is a cornerstone of our community, dedicated to enriching the lives of our seniors and because of donors like Gulf Winds, the agency has been able to undertake important renovations to ensure the seniors have a safe and supportive environment to host joyful gatherings and parties, play board games and activities, and much more. These contributions ensure that the community’s seniors not only receive the care they need but also enjoy a vibrant and fulfilling quality of life.
