Florida 2023 Sales-Tax Holiday
Have you taken advantage of Florida’s tax holiday yet? It is currently underway and runs through Sunday, August 6. Now is the perfect time to prepare for the back-to-school season, or just get some shopping done in general! From computers to clothes, this “Freedom Week” can save you hundreds of dollars.
Though this wonderful holiday covers most of your necessities, there are still a few restrictions put into place:
Learning Aids and Jigsaw Puzzles
Learning Aids and jigsaw puzzles are sales tax exempt if the sales price is $30 or less per item. Examples of these items include:
- Electronic books
- Flashcards
- Memory games
- Toys that teach reading or math skills
- Puzzle books
School Supplies
Common school supplies are sales tax exempt if the sales price is $50 of less per item. Examples of these items include:
- Pens and Pencils
- Notebooks
- Lunch Boxes
- Scissors
- Tape
- Calculators
Bags and Apparel
Clothing and bags are sales tax exempt if the sales price is $100 or less per item. Examples of these items include:
- Wallets
- Handbags
- Backpacks
- Diaper Bags
- All Footwear
- Any wearing apparel intended to be worn on the human body, excluding watches, watchbands, jewelry, umbrellas, and handkerchiefs.
Personal Computers and Related Accessories
Personal computers and personal computer-related accessories purchased for noncommercial home or personal use are sales tax exempt if the sales price is $1,500 or less. Examples of these items include:
- Laptops
- Tablets
- Electronic Book Readers
- Keyboards
- Mouse
- Monitors
Cellular telephones, video game consoles, and furniture systems/devices do not qualify for sales tax exemption.
